FROM THEN TO NOW
Greg Watts knows bicycles. He’s been riding them since the 1950s, and he’s been a Cardinal Bicycle customer since 1988. He first became aware of quality road bikes when he was living in Colorado in 1964 – that’s where he was introduced to the bike racing scene. Decades later, as a Roanoker, he walked into Cardinal for the very first time. When he saw that they carried brands like Bianchi and Specialized, he knew this was the bike shop for him, and he’s never looked back.
FROM THIS TO THAT
At the moment, Greg owns a Bianchi and a Lemond, but over time he has owned quite an impressive lineage of bicycles. He’s owned everything from an English 3 speed to a Peugeot PX10, to a Savauge-LeJuene, to a Gios, to a Specialized Lemond, to a Bianchi! ‘I love test riding bikes in the shop at Cardinal, and then riding around the neighborhood behind the shop’, says Greg.
FROM HERE TO THERE
Greg’s love of cycling has led him to be a commuter. Riding to and from work every day allows him to have daily enjoyment of riding. Of course, daily riding sometimes means more maintenance, too. ‘Cardinal has a knowledgeable long-time staff. When I need replacement parts, it’s never a problem. The shop in Grandin Village is first class, with a great mechanic.’
